z/OS Installation & Maintenance (DE)
Objectives: z/OS installation and maintenance involve several key steps, including system planning, hardware and software configuration, and installation. Post-installation activities such as system customization are also crucial. Regular maintenance includes applying software updates, managing system resources, and performing backups. Attendees know how SMP/E is used as a tool for system installation and maintenance. They will gain practical experience in the SMP/E tasks involved in installing and maintaining z/OS products. The emphasis is on interpreting the results of SMP/E processing. SMP/E concepts examined in this course include modification control statements, the consolidated software inventory, zone structure, and error analysis. The module was recently upgraded and updated to consider using z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF), which delivers solutions in a task-oriented, web browser-based user interface with integrated user assistance.
