Mainframe Architecture for Managers (DE)

In our discussions with customers, we repeatedly find that IT executives—who are responsible for making or supporting far-reaching and strategic decisions within their companies—lack sufficient knowledge of IBM Mainframe architecture. The Mainframe is often viewed as a dying dinosaur whose technology is outdated, which is supposedly too expensive, and which should be replaced by more modern platforms. We at EMA see things differently! The latest versions of the Mainframe feature state-of-the-art technology “under the hood.” It has been and remains a pioneer in many new technologies and boasts impressive “unique features” that other platforms cannot match—or at least not with the same level of quality. When it comes to availability and security, the IBM Mainframe sets standards that other platforms must strive to meet—and often struggle to achieve. Furthermore, the Mainframe’s technology often falls behind in the minds of executives because, due to its extreme reliability and high availability, it almost never causes serious problems compared to other technologies. It simply isn’t the focus of maintenance and troubleshooting. In the past, we have had the opportunity to conduct internal workshops and coaching sessions for executives at numerous client companies, and we therefore know “where the shoe pinches” and which topics make sense for a workshop series for executives. Above all, we also know how deeply we need to delve into the respective subject matter, taking into account the “manager” target audience, in order to make the essential aspects understandable and comprehensible.
